About Me

Hello, I am Jainish Shah.

If you are reading this, I am fortunate enough to welcome you here.

I am a 27-year-old boy from the city of dreams – Mumbai. Being born & brought up here, I too dream a lot. Not all dreams are meant to come true and I have learned that in my journey till now.

I am currently working as a Product Manager in a SaaS startup. Previously worked as a Senior Executive in the CEO’s office of a Healthcare IT company and as a web developer at TCS.

Besides, I have interned with several companies & have worked on a bunch of freelance content writing & consulting projects too.

I have completed my PGDM E-Business (Marketing) from Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai & am a BSc IT graduate.

This page will help you know more about me 🙂

Why am I not an Engineer?

Till my class 12, I was just dreaming like a typical engineering enthusiast that life is going to be cool. I will enroll in some fancy engineering college and have the tag “Engineer” which every other person in our country desires.

Only when the admissions began, I realized the fact that this will be too expensive for me. If I enroll in some college that is not in Mumbai, then hostel plus food charges will be add-on.

My entrance exam score was not awesome. But that didn’t create a difference unless they are too awesome to help you enter the government colleges. I was getting admission in a very reputed engineering college in Mumbai.

But I wasn’t satisfied with the idea of spending lakhs of rupees on engineering because I was not in a state to afford it. I was advised by many to opt for an education loan. I wasn’t very sure about the idea of taking a loan then.

Finally, I decided to settle. Not settle for less but settle for something that was feasible.

I saw the syllabus of BSc IT and I was surprised by noticing the fact that the syllabus for BSc IT was much more industry-oriented, you spend only 3 years and lesser fees & study something much more relevant than engineering.

I went to a near by decent college & enrolled in BSc IT. There is a separate story about how and why I enrolled in a near by college. Let’s keep that story for some other day.

My Graduation Days

I believe that learning is a never-ending process and so I keep on learning and exploring new things.

I used to spend a lot of time on the internet and I discovered Facebook Pages. I started exploring them and then I came across a term that is a buzz word today – “Digital Marketing”.

It started to fascinate me in the 2nd year of my Bachelors’s. I did several internships to explore more about digital marketing.

During my BSc days, I developed a zeal for writing and have won several writing competitions.

Well, I am not boasting about it, but I was also the academic topper of the BSc IT section at Nagindas Khandwala College.

That’s not the end. I also participated in and won a few Street Play competitions.

Startup Exposure

I got my first job in a digital marketing startup even before getting my degree. I started working there as a Junior Associate – SEO.

Till then, I was aware of digital marketing at a broad level. This job made me learn it in detail. As it was a startup, I received good exposure to various activities of digital marketing.

I learned and worked on On-Page SEO, Off-Page SEO, Google Analytics, Keyword Research, Infographic designing & a little bit of social media too.

After working there for 3 months, I decided to quit in order to pursue further education.

The phase where blogging began

But, destiny had different plans for me.

I received a joining letter from TCS. (I appeared for the TCS Ignite Off-Campus Interviews during my third year of graduation)

This made me rethink my decision of pursuing a master’s. I thought that even after pursuing a master’s in IT, I would join a company like TCS, and I had already left his startup job & was at home.

So, this made me take the decision of joining TCS. But, the joining date was 5 months later and I started exploring several things during this phase.

I participated in “MEC Referral Challenge Fall 2015” and started spreading awareness about Microsoft’s Massively Empowered Classroom programs in India. The challenge series was administered by Microsoft Research Bangalore & I received a letter of appreciation from Microsoft Research for helping them reach out to the students in India.

During this phase, I was preparing for Microsoft SQL Examination. While I was studying for Microsoft SQL Certification, I found that finding simple to-the-point resources on the internet takes a lot of time and decided to share what I learned. So as I learned various SQL concepts, I started writing about them on C# Corner (a Tech Community)

I was awarded the “Winner of the Month” (Jan’16) award for my outstanding contribution to the community.

This motivated me to explore writing further & I started my Free WordPress Blog.

Corporate Exposure – Journey in TCS

I have worked as a Web Developer & SEO Executive in TCS.

In my first project in TCS, I developed a hybrid mobile app, created it’s user manual, and successfully uploaded the app on Google Play Store & App Store. I received the “On-the-Sport” and “Best Team” award.

When my manager asked me about my aspirations, I quoted “Digital Marketing”. My manager searched for a project which would help me move ahead in my career and was able to find a leading bank’s digital transformation project.

I then created reusable website components & handled On-Page & Technical SEO activities for a leading bank’s new website. I also guided the team to write SEO-Friendly code.

Later, in order to learn and explore digital marketing more, I bought the domain and hosting too for this blog. My aim is to help businesses go digital and leverage them by using the power of technology.

My immense love for technology & marketing and ambition to explore the booming e-business space in India made me leave my secured TCS job and pursue an MBA in e-business (marketing)

What did I do during my MBA Days?

During my MBA Days, I gave more attention to my blog.

I successfully completed the Young Leaders’ Summit at IIM Bangalore. I received a Certificate of Recognition from Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) for being campus finalists & successfully completing HUL Speed Mentoring Workshop 2018.

I secured the second position in a Business Plan Competition at BIMTECH, Noida (2018). I was also the finalist for B-Plan Competition at Tapmi Manipal (2019).

I received a certificate of participation & completion from CSI for successfully attending all the sessions of the Cyber Frauds, Investigations & Forensics Conference held on 24-25 January at IIT Bombay.
